Better for: West Coast residents, shorter visits, Disney history fans. Walt Disney World (Orlando, FL): opened 1971, 4 theme parks (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom) + 2 water parks + Disney Springs, massive (47 sq miles, larger than San Francisco), needs 5-7 days minimum, more themed hotels. Better for: family vacations, theme park enthusiasts, longer trips, fans of EPCOT/Animal Kingdom experiences not at Disneyland. Cost: similar daily but WDW needs much longer stay. Tickets: $124-189/day at Disneyland, $159-189/day at WDW.
